Overview

The ELM Dual-Band ADS-B Traffic & Weather Receiver is a permanently installed avionics module designed for experimental fixed-wing aircraft. It provides real-time ADS-B IN traffic and weather information, enhancing pilot situational awareness without adding cockpit clutter. Engineered for seamless integration with ELM EFIS systems via CAN bus, the receiver also features built-in Wi-Fi and RS-232 connectivity for reliable data distribution to both panel-mounted avionics and wireless mobile devices. Designed specifically for aircraft installation, the unit is powered directly from the aircraft electrical system and requires no internal battery. Its focused, purpose-built design makes it an ideal companion to existing EFIS and navigation systems, delivering consistent, low-latency traffic and weather data in all phases of flight.

In-Flight Features:
Real-Time Traffic Display:
Continuous reception and display of ADS-B traffic data on EFIS and connected devices with minimal latency.
Weather Awareness:
Provides FIS-B weather data to support both enroute and pre-flight decision-making (where broadcast services are available). EFIS Integration:
Seamless CAN bus integration ensures stable, high-speed data transfer directly into ELM EFIS systems.
Wireless Connectivity:
Built-in Wi-Fi supports multiple simultaneous devices, allowing pilots and passengers to access data on tablets or mobile applications.
ForeFlight Flight Plan Sync:
When connected through a compatible ELM EFIS, enables wireless transfer of flight plans between the EFIS and ForeFlight, simplifying flight planning and in-flight updates.
Support for this functionality is expected to become available with an upcoming ForeFlight software update.
Clean Installation:
Compact, remote-mountable design eliminates cockpit clutter and removes the need for portable receivers or temporary mounting solutions.
Dedicated ADS-B Functionality:
Purpose-built for traffic and weather reception, ensuring reliable operation without unnecessary complexity or feature overload.

Enhanced Safety and Reduced Pilot Overload:
The ELM Dual-Band ADS-B Receiver enhances flight safety by providing continuous, real-time access to traffic and weather information, allowing pilots to make informed decisions with reduced workload.
By integrating directly into the aircraft’s avionics system, it eliminates reliance on portable receivers, batteries, and cockpit-mounted devices. This results in a cleaner cockpit environment and more reliable system operation.
Traffic and weather data are presented through existing EFIS displays or connected devices, allowing pilots to maintain situational awareness without diverting attention from primary flight tasks. This streamlined integration is particularly beneficial in high-traffic environments and rapidly changing weather conditions.

Why Pilots Choose the ELM ADS-B Receiver:
Pilots choose the ELM Dual-Band ADS-B Receiver for its clean integration, reliable performance, and purpose-built design tailored specifically for experimental aircraft.
By focusing exclusively on ADS-B traffic and weather reception, the system complements existing avionics without redundancy or unnecessary complexity. Native CAN bus integration with ELM EFIS systems ensures tight coupling with onboard displays, while built-in Wi-Fi and RS-232 connectivity provide flexible data access for both wired and wireless devices.
The result is a modern, efficient, and dependable solution for enhancing situational awareness in the cockpit.

Important Note:
This device provides advisory traffic and weather information only. It is the pilot’s responsibility to evaluate all available data and make appropriate operational decisions.
All electronic systems are subject to limitations and potential errors. Information should always be cross-checked with other sources and primary flight instruments.
Currently, ADSB-01 receiver ordering is available only with the purchase of ELM310, ELM800, or ELM1000 EFIS systems.

Features

Dual-Band ADS-B Reception:
Simultaneous reception of 978 MHz (UAT) and 1090 MHz ADS-B signals, ensuring full traffic visibility and access to broadcast weather services where available.

Traffic Awareness:
Displays nearby aircraft, relative position, and movement trends on compatible EFIS systems and connected devices using standard aviation data formats.

FIS-B Weather Data:
Receives broadcast weather information including radar, METARs, TAFs, and other products (availability dependent on region and coverage).

Built-In Wi-Fi:
Integrated wireless interface enables direct connection to tablets and mobile devices without external accessories. Supports multiple simultaneous clients.

CAN Bus Integration:
Native CAN bus connectivity provides fast, reliable, and low-latency data exchange with ELM EFIS systems.

RS-232 Connectivity with GDL90 Protocol:
Standard serial interface supporting GDL90 data output for compatibility with a wide range of avionics and third-party applications.

Installed Aircraft Design:
Powered directly from the aircraft electrical system. No batteries, no charging, and no portable device management required.
