Replaced all of the skybolt brando fasteners with these on two of the school planes. The ability to find the exact stud length with a Southco to make the fitting extremely snug makes these a far superior choice. Tried to use the skybolts for 8 years, and we were constantly replacing them, as they fall apart after about 500 hours of use. The barrel inset has a very thin clip/spring design which breaks eventually. We change oil every 25 hours at our place, and that’s a real test for cowling fasteners. The Skybolts actually damaged the cowlings due to the inability to adjust them exactly as tight as they need to be, therefore they allow extremely small amounts of movement. We’ve replaced every single fastener with these Southcos and are already very happy with the decision. R/R on cowlings each week takes less than half the time it did with skybolts, and they fit so much tighter! Our cowlings have 5 different stud lengths overall (140-220) so I’d recommend you buy a handful of all the sizes, because as much as we tried to mic the parts, it was finally trial and error that gave us the perfect fits. Each hole is different! Lastly, take a picture of your project and label each fitting with the stud size for future reference. I have a sorting box with 10 of each size plus the accompanying accessories on hand for future needs (down time costs money)

Prior fasteners had size stamped on the head, these do not. You will have to measure them to determine the size
