A simple and effective tool that makes compressing the valve spring for keeper removal a snap. Simply hook the "C" hook over the rocker shaft, locate the "L" hook over the spring cover plate, and press the handle downwards to compress the spring. The keeper can then be removed and the valve spring separated from the valve. To re-assemble, just perform the steps in reverse order to re-install the keeper. It's that simple. |
Although the TCM 550-K (Cirrus SR22) engine is listed as compatible with this tool, the tool does not fit as intended. The two curved finger projections are supposed to fit underneath the rocker, but they do not. To make the tool work, I fabricated an adapter using a 1/2-inch bolt cut to the appropriate length, with two 11/32-inch holes drilled into it to provide a little clearance. After bolting this adapter into the cylinder where the rocker had been removed, I was able to use the tool as designed.

Fantastic tool. Works on Lycoming and continental big bore and little.
3602 Valve Spring Compressor
I was reluctant to purchase this compressor based on other reviews. I purchased it anyway and used it extensively on TSIO520WB engines. Worked great throughout. No problems.

TOOL BROKE EAR ON FIRST AND ONLY USE,
3602 Valve Spring Compressor
Works like a champ on big bore Continentals valve springs. The adjustable reach is easy to set-up for a particular application.
They work great while they last. I use these at our tech school. My only complaint is the hook that grabs the rocker shaft will eventually break one of the arms. Instead of selling those pieces individually so you can repair and keep using the tool, you have to buy the entire expensive tool again.
Worked good for a while but broke a tooth off while using. Expensive tool to fail in the middle of a job for no reason!
