My first experience with Tempest spark plugs. Upon receiving 12 urem40E spark plugs I checked resistance in each plug, they were all in specifications (500 ohms to 2,500 ohms for new plugs). The lowest reading was 745 ohms and the highest was 1445 ohms, most of the plugs were around 1,325 to 1,345 ohms. The plug gaps were all within specifications (.015 to.021). I regapped all plugs (.015 to .018) and installed them in my Cessna 172 with a Continental o300 engine and they are all working fine so far (2 hours). The Champions I took out had about 500 hours on them and all were within resistance specifications and all were within erosion tolerances and all were serviceable spark plugs. If the Tempest plugs match the Champions performance, I will probably stay with the Tempest plugs due to the $10 price difference per plug ($120 total savings).

I would definitely use Tempest Aviation Spark Plugs. Performed a resistance ohms test (using a volt/ohm meter) and found all the plugs with the manufacturers limits. Checked a Champion plugs that were installed previously and found several with resistance over 5K ohms (over 5K ohms can damage magnetos and ignition wires) whereby the Tempest plugs averaged 1.2K ohms.

Never used Tempest plugs. Willing to give them a try based on their reputation.

Great plugs, no complaints. Only one tip, if you order these, make sure you have an extra deep well 7/8 socket. Not all deep wells are created equal. I had to go to three different hardware stores and try numerous brands before I found one that fit. If you want to be certain, a DeWalt brand deep well will work. This cost me some time on installation, so maybe Ill save you the trouble.

I am a aircraft mechanic/IA I bought these spark plugs to keep ad back up. For a dropped plug or bad plug found during inspection.

They sell my product at their stores, But being they do I should be loyal. But like old habits!! you have to shop!!!!! But doing so !!! I found out The Co. had the best price other than a E bay , very little even their. So I guess it is faster and simple just open the book and order.. SAVE TIME AND !!! MONEY. Great so far. Replaced all the top plugs in a o300 with massive and went with the fine wire on the bottom. Woke the old 172 up a little. Got rid of some stumbling.

I like champions, however for practical rea$ons I buy Tempest,, why? They are 5 bucks cheaper. As far as I can tell there are no practical discernible differences between the two makes. I have had champs on one magneto and Tempests on another and it made no performance difference. It be good when we can buy straight automotive plugs, those are the be$t.

Seems like a more substantial, better plug than the Champions they replaced. Had 12 Champions in my O300. At annual, found seven that failed a resistance check after only 200 hours in the engine. A&P was not surprised and recommend I buy the Tempest. Purchased these, they all passed the check (as they should being brand new). Installed easily and engine is running great.

One of the 8 plugs that I purchased was would not function on the aircraft and failed a function test. It was returned to Aircraft Spruce and it took 3 months to receive a replacement. This is the VERY FIRST time that I have ever had a problem with Tempest Aviation Spark Plugs. I certainly will continue to used Tempest plugs exclusively. I just wish that the replacement was more timely.

Just went up about 2 bucks again quietly :/, went to auto zone for socket to fit these, found a deep 7/8 socket for oxygen fitting with split down the middle for about $13.00 that fits perfect.

Nice product, better than champions, but. Flats on the plug body are lower than the champions profile and it took me to three different sources before I found a 7/8 inch socket that would fit the plugs . Hint:: Stick with the standard plug profile.
