NOTE: Some engines, such as multi-cylinder outboards generate considerable electronic "noise" and may require a light filter to assure a clear RPM reading. You will find a "comments" section at the end of the order page where you can tell us about your engine – what kind and how many cylinders it has – so that we can make any necessary adjustments. One year warranty Note: This will not work with a shielded ignition harness or lead. |
Loved this little tach. Easy to read located just below my MGL COLOR AIRSPEED INDICATOR/VSI (BLAZE SERIES) and with the compass next to it I have all the info I need for my ultralight flying.

Worked very well- fast shipping. Wound highly recommend to others Thanks R. B.
Great product
Replacement for my old Tiny Tach. Battery finally gave out. 5 yrs old.
The battery in my first Tiny Tach lasted from 1998 until 2015. Results may vary.
A terrific little powerhouse of a device. I used mine to help troubleshoot issues with tach indications on my OpenFlight EFIS from a Rotax 912 UL. Great for that usage, since it measures RPM in a completely different manner. The unit I received from Spruce [special order, with a longer antenna wire] was defective. Fantastic support from the manufacturer, who helped me troubleshoot and ultimately shipped me a new unit free or charge. GREAT EXPERIENCE.
My Tiny Tach on my Starflight Ultralight with a Rotax 377 just died due to battery failure. It has been on the craft for about 20 years and until today was working great. I am disappointed that the battery is not replaceable (anyone know a hack?) but otherwise have been very happy with it and will replace it with the same.
My tach has been in service for 4 years now and its still working well. I have a Lyc TIO540AF1B. We did have to cut a small opening in the shielding and then wound 10 turns over that opening (instructions recommended 3). It hasnt missed a beat since. Beats an optical tach as they dont work at night.
These are good, but they are not permanent hourmeters for your wings. They have an internal battery, which is replaceable with a standard 2032 watch coin battery. There are you-tube videos that explain how to replace the battery. It is not difficult I just did two. The trouble is that as soon as your TinyTach gets down to maybe one-quarter volt on its battery, it shuts off and loses accumulated time. I found out the hard way. I put two on my plane when I built it 5 years ago for redundancy and they both failed at about the same elapsed calendar time. They were reading +- 2 hours engine time when they failed, so that was good. They are definitely easy to install and good for the first few years of your planes life, but they are not permanent hourmeters. On repowering, they reset to zero hours. I also installed a Honeywell hourmeter but it broke so I relied on the Tiny-Tachs. If there is a way to reset accumulated time on a re-power event, they would be great. I am looking for that now. Otherwise, plan on investing in a permanent hourmeter that wont reset on power loss. 3 stars for price and easy to install and reliable as long as the battery is fresh. Dont see a way to repower with internal or external battery without resetting. That is a drawback.

You will want to set the Tiny Tach to 2 sparks per revolution.
This has two wires. One goes around a spark plug wire and the other grounds to the engine.
No, however you can special order the tiny tach with a custom length cable. Please contact our sales team for custom quote.
It should as long as the ignition harness isn't shielded.
