This is what I call the thick one and I think works better than the Lycoming gasket.

Real Gasket RG-72059 Dipstick Tube Base Gasket

Its a gasket. Its PMA for my engine. It fit and doesnt leak, which is more than I can say for the one the shop put on it after overhaul, forty-one hours before it started leaking. Not much else to say. It will deform slightly if overtightened, so make sure you dont overdo things when reinstalling the dipstick.

Far superior to the OEM gasket which is crazy thin and doesnt seal worth a crap. But remember that due to its thickness, your oil reading will be slightly lower than actual.

This looks like it really will solve the paper gasket hardening/leaking issue was hard to determine the proper torque. But no leak after 15 hours flight time

Happy with the product. One thing to consider after installation, the oil level on the dipstick May show slightly lower (1/16th of an inch or so) than actual. Not a big deal and you definitely won’t have any oil leakage after using this

Seems to be a much tighter fit and appears to be far more stout than a regular gasket.

I followed the instructions from the A&P - IA who provided info in the Q & A section of this product. Clean both surfaces, don’t over-tighten. Works great-no more leak.

Best service behind their product. When I saw it was offered through Spruce, I didnt mind paying a little extra to get it. I had a previous problem with Fuel Tank gasket thickness, to which they helped resolve beyond my expectations. thanks for carrying this line. Dont mind the little extra for this product choice.

Much better than the paper gasket, just dont over tighten and use .041 safety wire

A great fix for what has always been a weakness and potential oil seep on most Lycoming 4 cylinder engines. Nice and thick, allows you to gently tighten the oil dip stick tube yet if it moves even a little bit has enough sponginess to maintain the seal.

Excellent alternative to the paper gasket.
No leaks.

Far better than paper gasket. For flight training aircraft (6 planes 2500 hours annually) this definitely helps reduce engine oil mess. If tightened to much, as previously mentioned, it can squeeze out some. But, still reduces the amount of leakage greatly. As a tip we use .041 safety wire to hold the dip stick housings in place. This eliminates the stretching of the .032 safety wire when trying to remove an over-tightening dip stick.

Do not use this gasket if you have an aluminum dip stick tube, which is what many older narrow deck Lycomings have. If used, there is enough wiggle movement between the threads of the tube and the case that can cause the threads to become worn away over time due to engine vibration. One of our flight instructors came in after a flight and said that the aluminum dipstick tube fell out of the case. I went and inspected and found the tube to be hanging there sideways by the saftey wire and the threads were all gone on the aluminum dipstick tube oil everywhere of coarse. Luckily the threads in the case were still decent enough that a NEW plastic dipstick tube was able to thread in with an OEM paper gasket, but just barely.
USE ONLY WITH A PLASTIC DIPSTICK TUBE-NOT ALUMINUM

I have an O 360 A4K. This gasket is soft and thick and a few turns by hand squishes the seal right out of the base of the tube. I see one other guy here said the same thing so maybe its just this model Lycoming. I had to put the paper gasket back in.

Unfortunately this gasket doesnt work. It is too thick and soft. When you tighten the tube, it squishes out of shape. It needs to be thinner.

Rather thick and soft. Very slight torque (finger tight) forces the gasket out from under the tube base.
